Lukashenka asks Solana to exclude mediators in Belarus-EU dialogue

"I would like to ask very much so that we try to exclude any mediators, especially those who have unfriendly attitude towards our country, in relations between Belarus and the European UNI0N", said Alexander Lukashenka on February 19 in Minsk when meeting Javier Solana, EU High Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Security and EU Council's Secretary General.

Lukashenka noted that he meant the mediators both inside and outside the country.

The Belarusian head of state also thanked Solana for what he had done in improving the relations between Belarus and Europe. At the same time, Lukashenka said he had an impression that "the current stage of relations was associated with a certain trade both in the economic and political fields".

In turn, Solana noted that the European UNI0N regards Belarus as an European country. "I am convinced that our today's conversation will be constructive and useful for our relations", Solana said.
